Just Today sailing charters eliminated all onboard hydrocarbon use by:
replacing the diesel motor with a full electric drive system
generating all onboard power from solar panels and a wind generator
powering the dinghy with an ePropulsion electric outboard motor
trading propane cooking for electric induction and a GoSun solar grill
Clean Air & Water, Clean Sailing
Not only does removing petroleum fuel from the boat zero out carbon emissions, eliminate toxic fumes, and provide a silent sailing experience; it allows us to abandon use of toxic (and flammable) liquids needed to run internal combustion engines.
There's no chance of coolant, motor oil, or fuel spilling and polluting our beautiful waters and beaches.
A perfect solution?
No, but we think it's progress.
There are many tradeoffs when going green. We give up the ability to motor for long distances; we always have to sail within the limits of the weather. And just like hydrocarbon production, the ethics of lithium battery production seem to be dubious at best.
Innovative projects are challenging. The first batteries we used did not provide high enough performance. Several designs later we have built a system that works reliably for what we need.
With thousands of miles spent proving this system we are confident to provide a safe, reliable, sustainable charter experience sailing the Caribbean waters around Vieques!
